Love Is: || Participation
The February 2010 cards are an experimental collaborative project. The theme is “Love Is:” and the medium is “Participation.”
Here is how it works:
I create a card that states “Love Is:” and then mail it out asking the recipient to fill in the blank by completing the phrase. Then, ask them to take a legible picture of the completed card and e-mail it to me as the final piece.
How they will be used:
All submissions will be posted here on this website. I plan to create a mosaic of all the photos submitted to hang at my art show in August. I also plan to keep this project open until the end of the year, and if I collect enough submissions, I would like to compile them in a book.
How to participate:
This is an open project to anyone who would like to participate. If you would like to receive a postcard, send me an e-mail (shana[at]postcardsfromshana.com) with your mailing address. Within a week or two, you will receive a postcard in your mailbox. *Your mailing address will only be used for this one time mailing.
Fill in the blank “Love Is: _______” As short & sweet, or as long as you would like (and space will allow.) Feel free to use pencil, pen, marker, crayon, etc., but please write so that it can be read in the photograph. Scan or photograph the card to e-mail back. The photo can be straight forward and just the card, or you can get as creative as you like as long as the card is still legible. Have fun!
You will have the option of remaining anonymous or getting credit for your submission in any format you prefer. (ie, initials only, full name, first name & last initial)
There is no cost to participate. I only ask that you fill out the card and e-mail back a legible picture of it. You can keep the card.

The Fine Print.
There is no cost to participate. By sending in a submission you are giving Shana Mattheis permission to use the photograph as she chooses, including but not limited to: displaying it in public venues, posting it online, and publishing in a book format. By sending in a submission you are agreeing to the use of the photograph with photo credit as you specify. If format for credit is not specified, it will default to an “anonymous” submission. There will be no compensation for use of the photograph beyond possession of the original postcard.
